6/16/1929 – 4/24/2011
Myrtle Evelyn Bakker
passed away on April 24, 2011 after a lengthy illness. She was surrounded by her family at home in Foresthill, California.

She was born on June 16, 1929, to Myrtle Thankful Bellinger and Everett Fuller in Pittsfield, Mass. She moved from Massachusetts to Monterey, California with the Fuller family in the 1940’s when her dad got a job with the Federal Corp of Engineers in the initial development of the marine base at Camp Pendleton, Calif. The family later moved to Berkeley, Calif.

Myrtle attended Berkeley High School and worked as an usherette at the Campus Theatre on Bancroft and Shattuck Avenues in Berkeley. After graduation she worked as a Technician at the University of California Berkley Film Library. In 1953 she married William T. “Bill” Bakker who was a Berkeley Police officer.

They had a son, Scott William Bakker, born in June 1956. Bill later left the BPD and became a State of California Fish & Game Warden assigned to the Booneville district. While there Myrtle worked as a Postal Clerk for the Booneville Post Office and served on the District School Board. When the Dept of Fish & Game transferred Bill to Foresthill, Myrtle went to work as Court Clerk for the Placer Co at the Foresthill Justice Court serving for the first female sitting judge, Frances Rains. Myrtle retired from Placer Co in the 1990’s and maintained her State of California Notary License for 30 years as a service to the community.

Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Charles Fuller and Russell Fuller.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, William T. Bakker; son Scott W. (Jill) Bakker; grandsons Ryan (Amy) Bakker and Tyler (Stephanie) Bakker; four great-grandchildren; brothers Everett “Bud” Fuller (Kathy), David Fuller (Joanne), Richard Fuller (Priscilla) and sister Diane Juncosa; brother-in-law Robert (JoAnne) Bakker; sister-in-law Joan Bakker; plus many nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.

Before her illness, Myrtle was involved in many volunteer projects both in Booneville and Foresthill. She was very proud to be a trained volunteer for Placer Co Sheriff’s Dept. at the Foresthill sub-station. She served on the Placer Co Foresthill Community Hall Board; was a 56-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary; she and bill enjoyed monthly gatherings as members of the Placer Co Navy League.

A celebration of life will be planned for later in the summer in her hometown of Foresthill.
