Josephine Costello, 90, of Brigantine, passed away on Sunday.

Born in Philadelphia to the late Joseph and Florence Funk, she grew up in Audubon, before moving to Brigantine in 1954.

Josephine was a homemaker. She and her family enjoyed life on the bay, fishing and boating on the island that she loved. A music enthusiast, she played the organ and the banjo. She was a member of the Ventnor City String Band and marched in the New Years Mummers Parade on Broad Street from 1989 to 1998. She was active in the American Legion Women's Auxiliary. An avid bowler, she bowled in several leagues, for over 40 years, achieving scores of above 200, well into her 80's.

She was predeceased by her devoted husband, John Costello, her brother Howard Owens, her sister Margaret Funk, and her son-in-law William Reilly.

She was survived by her daughters Joanne Reilly, and Judith Devens (Scott), her sons John Costello (Barbara), and Joseph Costello (Jackie), twelve grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren.
