Paula Nelle Gable Banning of East Wenatchee, Wash., age 71, died Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011, at Wenatchee, Wash.

She was born June 13, 1940, in Long Pine, Neb., to Arthur Mearl Gable and Beulah Blanche Wales Gable. Paula graduated in 1958 from the Kimberly, Idaho, high school. After graduation, she worked in the office of the Idaho Department Store and later for Bob Reese Motor Company in Twin Falls, Idaho. Paula also worked for the Department of Highways in Carson City, Nev., and the Department of Highways in Boise, Idaho.

On Dec. 4, 1966, she married Capt. Richard (Dick) B. Banning, the son of Ralph B. Banning and Loretta Lucile Pace Banning, at Kimberly. Their first home was in Nurnberg, Germany, where their daughter, Christina, was born. They raised both of their children in Vancouver, Wash., where Paula was a homemaker. In 2001, Dick and Paula moved to East Wenatchee to be near their grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Dick of East Wenatchee; children, Christina L. (Geoffrey) Richardson of Leavenworth, Wash., and Timothy B. Banning of Paradise, Calif.; three grandchildren, Lauren and Derek Richardson of Leavenworth, Wash., and Cole Banning of Paradise, Calif.; brother, Anson (Connie) Gable of Hayden, Idaho; and sister, Linda (Ron) Dillon of Meridian, Idaho. Paula was preceded in death by her brother, Gordon Arthur Gable; and sister, Patricia Jean Howard.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 17, at the Evergreen Memorial Park in East Wenatchee, Wash. Arrangements are under the direction of Jones & Jones-Betts Funeral Home in Wenatchee, Wash.
