Marjorie Marcel Callahan

Dec. 25, 1921-Mar. 28, 2012

Marjorie peacefully left this earth and went home to be with God Wednesday morning, March 28, 2012.

She was born to the late Stephen and Hazel Gable on Christmas Day, 1921, Mangum, Okla. After marrying Frank Callahan in 1939, they moved to Oxnard in 1944, their home for 60 years. Frank passed away in 1989 after 50 years of marriage. Together they raised their four daughters, Barbara (Walt) Speelman, Patricia (David) Dickson, Karen (Michael) Velarde, and Marilyn (Mike) Gushwa.

In addition to mother and homemaker, over the years Marjorie also worked at the Port Hueneme Post Office, Camarillo State Hospital, and she kept books for Frank's auto dealership, Cal-Rod Motors. In her retirement she enjoyed her grandchildren and working in her garden.

Marjorie has six grandchildren: Tim (Jen) Goodwin, Phillip Villegas, Lisa Perez, Brian (Kristi) Dexter, Jason Dexter, and eight great-grandchildren. Marjorie is also survived by her dear sister, Helen (Bob) Hart; sisters-in-law, Norma Gable and Ina Gable; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Joe, Archie, Monroe, George, John, and sister, Mary Hawkins.

Her family would like to give special thanks to the entire staff of Sunrise Remembrance, Rocklin, Calif., for the very loving care they gave to our dear mother.

Services will be held at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park, Camarillo. Viewing is at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 5; Memorial Service is at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 6. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to your local hospice.
