Mrs. Biddinger Dead After Long Illness

Member of Old Daviess County Family Passes Away At Her Home on Pearl Street

Was Born in Philadelphia

Came to County Fifty Years Ago With Her Father, Michael Gaffney - One Sister Living

Mrs. Elizabeth Biddinger a member of one of the old Daviess county families, died this morning at her home on Pearl street after a lingering illness of several months. Mrs. Biddinger took sick last spring and several times in the summer it was feared that she would not live. She was the wife of John Biddinger, who survives her, and had no children.

Mrs. Biddinger was the daughter of Michael Gaffney and was sixty-one years of age. She was born in Philadelphia and with her parents and her brothers and sisters came to this county fifty years ago and settled on what is known as the Gaffney farm near the home of Jesse Billings, southeast of Washington. She was married to John Biddinger in 1868 and has lived in this city since.

With the death of Mrs. Biddinger there remains but one member of the Gaffney family, which was a large one. Mrs. John Riley is the surviving sister. The Gaffneys were prominent in this county thirty years ago and a brother to Mrs. Biddinger, William Gaffney, was a newspaper write and poet of some note.

The funeral services will be held at 9 o'clock Thursday morning at St. Simons church. Burial at Bethany.
