GALESBURG – Carol Barnfield, 87, Galesburg, died 2:50 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2009 in Seminary Manor in Galesburg.

She was born July 2, 1922 in Galesburg, the daughter of Golden and Jessie Freeberg Games. Barnfield attended country grade school between Wataga and Galesburg, then graduated from Victoria High School in Victoria.

She was a homemaker and worked as an assembler for Admiral Corporation in Galesburg for 30 years. She lived in Williamsfield before moving to Galesburg in 1975.

Surviving Barnfield are two sons, Jerry (Maureen) Sornberger, Kewanee, and Mike (Peggy) Shepard, Lakeland, Fla.; lifelong companion of 34 years, Lyle Lantz, Galesburg; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Barnfield was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16 at the Hurd Hendricks Funeral Home and Crematory in Knoxville. Rev. Milton Marquith will be officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, Sept. 15 from 6-8 p.m. at the Funeral Home in Knoxville. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Galesburg. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
