Retired Marshall County School Administrator Died Saturday

Charles E. Games, 85, of Morton Avenue, Moundsville, died Saturday, March 6, 1999, in Wheeling Hospital.

He was born on September 16, 1913, the son of the late George and Lulu Roberts Games.

Charles began his career in education as a teacher in 1936 before becoming Principal for both the Limestone and Sanford Elementary Schools in Marshall County.

He assumed the position of Coordinator of Marshall County Elementary Schools in 1961 where he remained for 19 years until his retirement in 1979.

He then worked for many years as a substitute teacher.

A graduate of West Liberty College, he earned his Masters at West Virginia University.

He was an Army Air Corps Veteran of World War II, a member of AARP, having been appointed for four years as AARP-NTRA Coordinator for West Virginia in 1991.

He was a member of the West Virginia State Teachers Association, the Marshall County Senior Citizens, Member/Past President, and current Secretary for the Moundsville Kiwanis Club; he was also elected to the Silver Haired Legislature in 1981 and 1983.

He was a member of Simpson United Methodist Church, where he served for many years on the Administrative Council, he was current Secretary-Treasurer for the United Methodist Men.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Clarence, Lawrence, and George, and a sister, Carrie Cunningham.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Overton Games; three sons, Dr. Richard Games of Bayside, NY, Ken Games of Marietta, GA. and Larry and Teresa Games of Vienna, WV; one sister, Emma Holmes of Moundsville, and two grandchildren, Lauren and Brice Games; both of Vienna, WV.

The family received friends Sunday 7-9 PM and Monday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Grisell's Funeral Home.

The family will then receive friends from 12:30 PM until the time of the service at 1:30 PM, Tuesday at Simpson United Methodist Church, corner of Seventh Street and Morton Avenue. Dr. William E. Calhoun will officiate the service with interment following in Riverview Cemetery.
