Anna Lois Aiken, 95, of Benton, passed away 4:30 a.m. on October 25, 2015 at the Stonebridge Senior Living Center, Benton, IL. She was born on September 29, 1920 to Gus and Opal (Brown) Gann in Eldorado, IL. The granddaughter to the late J.H. Brown who was the founder of the First Methodist Church in West Frankfort. On December 23, 1958 she married James Burrell Aiken. Mrs. Aiken was a retired School Teacher. She started her career teaching in a one-room schoolhouse located in Ganntown, IL. Over the years Anna touched many lives as an educator at Joiner Grade School in West Frankfort, West Frankfort High School and Valier High School. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Bridge Club. Anna is survived by her children, Bill Huff and wife Marie of Benton, IL, Jane Ann Buboltz and husband Rob of Naples, FL, and James Gann Aiken of Huntington, MA; three grandsons, Matthew Huff of West Frankfort, IL, Nicholas Aiken of Huntington, MA and Daniel Buboltz of Naples, FL. She was preceded in death by parents, J. Guss and Opal Gann; husband, James Burrell Aiken, a sister, Ruby McManus; and brother, Bill Gann. Graveside services will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 31, 2015 at the Masonic & Odd Fellows Cemetery, Benton, Illinois, with Rev. Lee Lovett officiating. Arrangements under the direction of Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home & Crematory, Benton, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Benton, IL and will be accepted at the funeral home.
