He graduated from Denham Springs High School in 1941 and joined the Navy afterwards. He served 4 years in the South Pacific during WWII. He attended Lamar State College in Texas. Retired from Shell Chemical – Geismar in 1987, being one of the first 25 operators hired at that plant.
