Sara Spencer Gemayel, 83, 400 Oakwood Drive, died Sunday (March 24, 2002) at Rowan Regional Medical Center, Salisbury.

Born Jan. 6, 1919, in Rowan County, Mrs. Gemayel was a daughter of Moses Franklin and Edna Albright Spencer. She was a graduate of Boyden High School, Salisbury, and Salisbury Business College.

Retired from Rowan Drug Store, she had earlier worked at Purcell's Clothiers, Salisbury. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church, the Mamie Lynch Guild, and the United Methodist Women.

Her husband,George N.Gemayel, died Feb. 5, 1976.

Survivors include son George Gemayel,Kingsport, Tenn.; daughter Marsha G. Wood, Spencer; brother Bobby Spencer, Social Circle,Ga.; sisters Mary S. Coble, China Grove, and Judy Thompson, Fairview; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Summersett Funeral Home chapel, Salisbury, conducted by the Rev. Rodney Hagans, pastor, Central United Methodist Church. Burial, Rowan Memorial Park, Salisbury.

Visitation: 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.
