Marie B. Asay, 94, of Toms River, passed away on Friday, April 29, 2016 at Community Medical Center in Toms River. She was born in Camden, NJ on March 20, 1922 to James and Marie Gibson and was a longtime resident of Toms River. Marie was a legal secretary for Franklin H. Berry, Esq. in Toms River for 25 years before her retirement. She enjoyed boating, the beach and bowling. Marie was a beloved mother and wife; she loved hosting family gatherings and will be dearly missed.
She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years Howard J. Asay in 2009. Surviving are her children Catherine Binkley, Howard Asay and his wife Kathleen, Justine Grangberg and her husband Wally and Dennis Asay and his wife Sharon; 9 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; three brothers James E. "Buddy" Gibson, Robert Gibson and Raymond Gibson; and extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, May 2 at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St., Toms River. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, 685 Hooper Ave., Toms River. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Toms River.
