Alice B. Gifford, widow of Roswell F. Gifford who died ln 1941, died early Monday at Cape Cod hospital. She was 67, and had been in ill health for the past three years. Mrs. Gifford was born in Marion, daughter of Thomas B. and Alice Hathaway Landers. She spent her girlhood in West Falmouth at the family homestead and attended Falmouth schools. She was graduated from the flrst class of Lawrence high school in 1896 and was class historian. She had a perfect attendance record for four years of high school, being neither absent or tardy and making the trip to school by horse and carriage. She was graduated from Hyannis Normal School in 1898. Her flrst position as a teacher was at Hatchville school. She also taught in Falrhaven and was teaching in the Huntington School in Brockton at the time of her marriage in 1906. Mr. and Mrs. Gifford lived first in Amherst, where he was employed tn a hat factory, and later ln Westboro, where Mr. Gifford started an insurance business. They came to Falmouth in 1917 and Mr. Gifford opened an Insurance' office which he operated until his death.
Mrs. Gifford continued the real estate and insurance business after her husband's death. She was a member ot the Cape Cod Board of Realtors, and of Falmouth Methodist church, and a former member of trie Outlook Club, Falmouth Garden Club and Fahneta Rebekah lodge. Mrs. Gifford is survived by a daughter, Mrs. James Wynne; and a brother and sister, Ralph W. Landers and Mrs. John Lynch; an uncle, William C. Hathaway ot Marion; and three nieces, the Misses Ann and Jane Landers ahd Mrs. Elizabeth Perry. Funeral services were held from her West Falmouth home Wednesday afternoon with the Rev. Herbert Wilbur of Middleboro officiating. Burial was In Oak Grove cemetery.
