"Anna Eliza Gilbert, wife of the late Morris Butts, died at 9:30 a. m. on Sunday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. H. H. Marlette, of Laurens township. Mrs. Butts, who was born October 11, 1830, at Gilbert Lake, was a daughter of the late Morris and Alice (Eldred) Gilbert, and was married October 21st, 1850, her whole long life of nearly ninety-one years being spent in Laurens. The sixty-seventh wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Butts was observed in 1917 at the Marlette residence. To them were born five children, only one of whom, Mrs. Marlette, now survives. There are, however, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren to mourn her demise. Up to within a week of her death, she had been in good health. The funeral was held from the Marlette home on Tuesday at 2 p. m., with burial in the Laurens cemetery." ["The Otsego Farmer & Republican" (Cooperstown, NY), Aug. 12, 1921, p. 7, col. 1]
