The grim messenger Death overtook Mrs. Ophelia Ausbrooks as she sat in a chair at her home on Charlotte Street about 2:30 o'clock on Tuesday morning, and er body was found still warm by her aged mother a few minutes later.

Mrs. Ausbrooks, ho was, prior to her marriage to William Ausbrooks, a member of the 23nd Infantry, Miss Ophelia Gilbert, lived with her mother at their home on Charlotte Street, and for several days past she has acted strangely and as though partially deranged, refusing to retire at night, and sleeping for a few hours in a chair, but generally working almost the entire night. About 6 o'clock Monday afternoon Dr. T.A. Rogers was called upon to prescribe for her. He ordered her to retire and remain quiet, but this she did not do, and within half an hour of the time er body was found her mother heard her sweeping and dusting through the house.

For a time it was thought to be a case of suicide,as Mrs. Ausbrooks was seen upon the streets Monday evening in apparently her usual health and spirits. Coroner McMasters was notified and e directed Drs. Rogers and Silver to perform an autopsy, which they did yesterday and found that death was due to rupture.

Mrs. Ausbrooks was 53 years of age. Her husband is now confined in the military hospital t San Francisco, having been sent back to the United States from the Philippines on account of illness.
