TORRINGTON — Mary H. (Glynn) Bensavage, age 89, of 215 Forest St., died suddenly at Wolcott Hall Nursing Center on Monday, July 7, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of the late Benjamin A. Bensavage.

Mary was born March 12, 1925, in Brooklyn, N.Y., the daughter of the late Patrick and Helen (Coyne) Glynn, and she lived in Oakville for most of her life. She was a graduate of Girls Commercial High School in Brooklyn, N.Y. Prior to her retirement in 1987, Mary was employed as a time keeper at Heminway Bartlett in Watertown.

She was a communicant of St. Mary Magdalen Church. Mary cherished her family above all, had a great sense of humor with a great wit and was very proud of her Irish heritage. She was a very religious person, loved listening to music and was an avid reader and bowler in her day. Being with her children made her happiest, and she brought joy and laughter to those people who were lucky enough to know her.

Mary was predeceased by a brother, Patrick Glynn of California, and just recently her loving oldest daughter, Linda E. LoRusso (Bradshaw) of Thomaston. She leaves a daughter, Debra DiMaria, her husband, Peter, and their son, Daniel, of Goshen; her son, Benjamin of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and a son-in-law, James LoRusso of Thomaston. Mary also leaves five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the entire staff at Wolcott Hall Nursing Center who made our mother feel loved and comfortable during her time there. Mary tried to brighten everyone's work day there with fun and light-hearted conversation.

Funeral Mass Saturday, July 26, 2014, at 9 a.m. at Saint Peter's Church in Torrington. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Watertown. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to VITAS Innovative Hospice Care, 199 Park Road Ext., Suite 102, Middlebury, CT 06762.

The O'Neill Funeral Home, 742 Main St., has been entrusted to assist her family with arrangements. To extend online expressions of sympathy to her family or for additional information, kindly visit www.oneillfuneralhome.com.
