Wyoming Rites for Kimberly Native, Cecilia Brooks, 74

Cecilia Marie Brooks of Lander, Wyoming, died Monday, October 25, 1993, at her home in Lander at the age of 74.
She was born August 6, 1919, in Kimberly the daughter of the late Herman and Mary Colette (DeCleene) Gossens.
During World War II Cecilia worked at the Rayovac company and the Kimberly Clark Paper Mill factory. She was married to Frank Bernard Brooks, Sr., on September 10, 1944, in Great Falls, Montana. She raised nine children. Her family and marriage was important to her. She enjoyed camping and fishing. Cecilia ran the C.O.P.E. (Committee on Political Education)through the AFL-CIO when she lived in Laramie, Wyoming. She worked for three years at the Lander training school and did volunteer work by taking care of elderly persons in their homes. She worked at Westward Heights nursing Home when she was 60 years old for two years and her last job was with Daisy Cleaners at the age of 73, until she became ill with cancer.
Survivors include four daughters, Kathleen Copeland, Faye Mills and Ann Milton, all of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Mary Harris of Lander; five sons, Varn Brooks of Port Townsend, Washington, Terry Brooks of Casper, Wyoming, Frank Brooks, Jr., of Rock Springs, Wyoming, Steve Brooks of Lander and Robin Brooks of Douglas, Wyoming; 15 grandchildren; three brothers, Joseph Gossens and Rene Gossens of Kimberly and Norbert Gossens of Neenah.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Brooks, Sr.; one brother; three sister; her parents; and one grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at the Davis Funeral Home in Riverton, Wyoming, at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, October 29, with private family services to be held in Laramie on Saturday at Greenhill cemetery.
Memorials may be sent to the American Diabetes Association or the American Institute for Cancer Research in care of the Davis Funeral Home, 203 W. Main and Davis Lane, Riverton, Wyoming, 82501.
