Idissie Brandon, 92, of Waco, passed away on October, 25, 2015. Viewing will be from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., October 30, 2015, at the funeral home and at 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. the day of the service. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., October 31, 2015, at Connally Compton Funeral Directors Chapel. Burial will follow in Doris Miller Memorial Park.

Idissie was born to the late Otis and Mary Gowan. Idissie attended public school at Olive Heights Elementary School and Moore High School. By confessing hope and faith in Christ at an early age, Idissie begin a lifelong relationship with God. She joined Church of the Living God (PGT).

She met and married T. Vernon Brandon. Together, they worked in various areas of the Church of the Living God, PGT and served as models for their children. Idissie participated in the choir, teacher and superintendent for the Sunday School Department, member and teacher for the missionary society, and served as usher of the church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, T. Vernon Brandon; stepmother, Frankie Gowan; siblings: Herman Gowan, Otis Gowan, Jr., R.G. Gowan, Helen Marie Haliburton, Lucille Williams, T.J. Gowan, Dorothy Gowan, and Katie Mae Howlett.

Survivors include children: Larry George Thornton and Jaydynn, of Sacramento, CA, Linda Kay Wiley and Donell, of Temple, and James Edward Brandon, of Dallas; granddaughter, Natasha Talbert and husband, David, of Waco; great-grandchildren: Adrian Walker, Davion Talbert, Trestean Talbert, Taylor Talbert, all of Waco; niece, Elaine Thomas, James of Waco; special friends: Pat Higgins, of Austin, Kenneth Rowe, of Dallas, Chris Chapman, of Jackson, MS, Julia Jackson, of Waco, Roy Williams and Jane, of Waco; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
