Mrs. Brenda Gowan Banks, 74, of Cowpens went home to be with the Lord, December 27, 2015 surrounded by her family. She was the widow of Jack Banks and the daughter of the late Herbert E. Gowan and Lillian Bolton Gowan. She was a homemaker who provided a loving and caring home for her children, she was a devoted Christian and a member of Freedom Baptist Church where she had a card ministry of her own and hosted the Friendship Club at her home.

She is survived by her children, Janice Banks (Chris) of Cowpens, Denna Koepke (Kevin) of Jonesville; brothers, Billy Gowan (Ellen) of GA and Allen Gowan (Fran) of Cowpens; sisters, Patsy Guy (Robert) of Mayo and Lynn Rhymer (Ray) of Cowpens; grandchildren, Kristen Thornton ( Lee), Meghanne McDaniels (Caleb), Miranda Rochester (Drake), Kaitlyn Beheler (Dylan) and Andrea Cantrell (Jacob Bolduc); great-grandchildren, Adisyn Thornton and Penelope McDaniels; and by her beloved dog, Buttons.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Wanda Boyd; first husband, Bobby Poole; brother, Lewis Dean Gowan and grandson, Joshua Cobb.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Eggers Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at Eggers Funeral Home Chapel of Chesnee with Rev. Billy Kersh and Rev. Allen Dean Blanton officiating. Burial will be in Springhill Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Freedom Baptist Church, 820 Bill Lattimore Road, Chesnee, SC.

The family will be at the home of her daughter, Janice Banks.
