Sarah Sallye Graham Matthews Bayer, age 94, born in Nashville, Tenn., on Dec. 10, 1917, went home to the Lord on Oct. 14, 2012. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, mother-in-law and friend to many, Sallye will be remembered for her caring spirit, cheerful personality and sense of humor. She was an active member in her church for more than 50 years, and a member of San Jose Country Club where she played golf into her '80s. She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Joseph Joe Thomas Bayer. She is survived by daughters Joanne Falcony (Guido), Quito, Ecuador, and Becky Colangelo, Jacksonville; and son Tommy Bayer (Olga), Jacksonville; and grandchildren Michelle Falcony, Alan Falcony, Andr Falcony (Catalina), Vanessa Falcony Lundin (Gregory); David Colangelo (Andrea), Joe Colangelo, and Sarah Boswell (Tim); Kayce Bayer (Chris), Barrett Bayer, and Scott Bayer; and great-grandchildren Andrea and Carolina Restrepo. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 18, at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Chapel, 4801 San Jose Blvd. The Funeral Service will be at 10 a.m., Friday, Oct. 19, at Southside United Methodist Church, 3120 Hendricks Ave., with Pastors Bruce Jones and Dale Tedder officiating. Memorial donations can be made to Southside United Methodist Church or Community Hospice of Northeast Florida.
