Elizabeth's father (William Graham) purchased 40 acres of property near Clayton, NJ. After only 3 months in the USA, on July 29, 1851, William succumbed to typhoid fever leaving his 4 children alone.
Elizabeth, his 5th child did not arrive in the USA with her father. I (Ginger Graham Smith) have been unable to locate her emigration date. At some point, however, she emigrated to the USA, married William Downs and is buried next to her father.
Her other brothers and sisters (4) , including my great-grandfather, John C. Graham, relocated to Menard County, IL and are buried there.
The above information was provided by ...Ginger Graham Smith, a relative of Mr. William Downs and his wife Elizabeth (Graham) Downs
