Mrs. Mabel Bessey

There is a grim reaper, whose name is death, with his cycle keen he reaps the bearded grain at a breath, and the flowers that grow between.

Death has again entered our ranks and taken Mabel C. Bessey. She was dear sister, a king and loyal friend, one who could always be relied upon to do any of our Temple work, and no sister in time of sickness and sorrow but can remember what a true and sympathetic friend she was in time of need. She joined our ranks February 13, 1917. Was also a member of the Pocahontas Lodge, Waneta Council No. 6, belonged to the B.Y.P.U., and was a faithful member of the Presbyterian church, and Missionary Society.

She was born in Verdon, Kansas, March 18, 1866, and was 33 years of age. She leaves a husband and little daughter, besides being loved as an own sister and daughter in her husbands family. Her father, F.C. Groves, one sister and brother of Tulsa, Oklahoma, were here for the funeral, not being able to het here before her sudden death. She was taken sick Monday evening, February 17, and died Thursday the 20th, at 10:30. No one realized how ill she really was until almost the end. Our heartfelt sympathy and love go out to the members of her family in their loss.

A dear sister from our Temple has gone.
A sister kind and true
One who was always ready and willing.
To do all that she could do
Each night that we met in our Temple
And our eyes wander to her vacant chair
Our thoughts to our little pianist will go
We will each breath a prayers that she is at home over there
But, O! how we miss her, for we all loved her so.
