Mrs. Abbie Beck, 95, one of Burlington's oldest residents, passed away at her home late Wednesday evening. She had been in good health until she fell and broke a hip about a month ago.
She was born on July 6, 1845, at Spring Prairie. On March 4, 1867, she married Frank Beck and the couple moved to a farm near Bohner's lake. About 20 years ago she moved to Burlington, where she had since made her home on Rynolds avenue.
She is survived by two daughters, Millie and Caroline Beck of Burlington, and six sons, Louis, John and George, on the home farm; Joe of Tolley, N. Dak., Harry of Kenosha and Frank of Lamars, Iowa. Other survivors include two brothers, Joseph Grass of Milwaukee and Frank Grass of Owatonna, Minn.; four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Arrangements for the funeral had not been completed at this writing, but services will be held Saturday at St. Charles' church.
