Mrs. Binner, 88, of Wabasha Dies

Wabasha – Mrs. Margaret A. Binner, 88, of Wabasha, a retired rural Wabasha homemaker, died Saturday at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital where she had been a patient the past three days. The former Margaret Ann Grass, she was born March 18, 1892, in Wabasha, where she married Andrew Binner on Sept. 3, 1913. The couple farmed in rural Wabasha until 1947, when they retired and moved into Wabasha. Mr. Binner, who had been a Wabasha County commissioner for several terms died in 1965. Mrs. Binner became a resident of the Wabasha Nursing Home two years ago. Survivors include a son, William of Wabasha; two daughters, Mrs. Leonard (Lucille) Thorpe of Inkster, Mich., and Mrs. Leland (Margie) Todd of Chatfield; 27 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and five sisters, Mr. Lloyd (Caroline) Arnold, Mrs. Lavern (Eileen) Beatty and Mrs. Louis (Louise) La Tour of Minneapolis. A daughter, two sons, three sisters and three brothers preceded her in death. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Felix Catholic Church in Wabasha with the Rev. Edgar Schaefer officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Abbott-Wise Funeral Home in Wabasha after 2 p.m. today and until the services on Tuesday. A parish council rosary will be said at 3 p.m. today and a parish rosary said at 8 p.m. today, both at the funeral home.
