Jesse Redifer and Martha Jane Grass married in 1846,he was 19 years older then Martha. They had two children, Almeretta,1847-1863,and Edward Monroe Redifer ,1862-1935.
Note of interest: Martha's father was brother to Jesse's mother. Jesse and Martha were 1st cousins.

After Martha's husband Jesse died in 1866, Martha married Peter G. Boor. June 28, 1868 in Clay County, Indiana. Martha was 22 years older then Peter. Martha was born January 1820., Peter was born September 29, 1842.Peter was a Miller by trade, he died March 18, 1871,at the age of 29 years, 5 months and 18 days.
Martha buried two husbands in a five year period.

Martha J. and her new husband Peter G. are listed in the 1870 Clay County Census, , she is listed as 40 years old he as 27 yrs old. (She is actually 50 years old at this time )., she married a much younger man, and most likely was hiding her true age. When Jesse died he left Martha J. a very wealthy widow,"they were listed as having a domestic live-in .,and he as a merchant in the 1860 census". Jesse owned one of the first grocery stores in Cloverland.
In 1880 son Edward Redifer was using the Boor name and was listed as a "Gent of Leisure" with "heart Disease",age 18, Martha is listed as having "Neuralgia", Peter is not in the home at this time, he was only in one census with Martha, she is listed as married in 1880, and a widow in
the 1900 census,In 1900 Martha is living with son Edward and his family, she states she is a widow and using the Redifer name, she is buried with the Boor name.

Jesse Redifer Jr( great grandson of Jesse and Martha) told Juliane that about 1906, Edward and wife Mary Ann were living with Edward's mother Martha , the house burned down, just a few dining room items were saved, and Martha had the house rebuilt. He stated that she was a very wealthy woman. Jesse said his great grandmother Martha owned a sheep ranch in Illinois.

Mrs. Martha Boor, 92 years old, died Saturday at the home of her son, Ed Redifer of Cloverland. She was a pioneer resident of Vigo and Clay counties and was a distant relative of Dr. M. A. Boor of Terre Haute.
The funeral will be held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the residence, burial in Billtown Cemetery.

Both Martha's husbands, Jesse and Peter are buried near her, one on each side.
