Rose Catherine Corley, age 100, of Lamar, passed away Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at Truman Healthcare Center.

Rose was born May 19, 1910, at Boonville, Missouri, one of the eight children of Paul and Anne (Gantner) Grauer. She graduated from Boonville High School and married James Edwin "Jimbo" Corley. They had lived in Slater, Missouri, for many years, then made their home in Kansas City until moving to Lamar 15 years ago to be near family.

In addition to being a homemaker, Rose had worked many years as a sales clerk for the Jones Store and J.C. Penney in Kansas City. She and Jimbo were avid travelers, most often by rail, and they formed friendships while on the train as well at every destination. Family and friends alike enjoyed her gift of hospitality throughout the years. Many will remember both Jim and Rose as warm and friendly ambassadors of Lamar during their daily breakfast at McDonald's. Rose was of the Catholic faith.

Rose and Jimbo had celebrated more than 60 years together before his death October 13, 2001. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Hager and seven brothers and sisters.

Survivors include three grandsons and their wives, Ron & Vicki Hager, Lamar, Don & Mia Hager, Odenton, Maryland, and Tom & Debbie Hager, Tightwad, Missouri; a son-in-law, Donald E. and wife, Rosalee Hager, Slater, Missouri; five great-grandsons, Chris & wife Tricia Hager, Mark Hager, Steven Hager, Brian & wife Deanna Hager, and Davey & wife Bobbi Hager; and two great-great grandchildren.
