Emma Jean Blaylock, age 82, of Lafayette, GA and formerly of Franklin County, went to be with the Lord Tuesday July 17, 2012 with her son Michael by her side. She was born at St. Andrews, TN near Sewanee, to the late Dorothy Annie Foster Graves and Lawrence Augustine Graves. She made her home in Franklin County until 1953 then moved to Northern Georgia where she worked tirelessly as talented seamstress. She attended the Baptist Church all her life until her health began to fail. She especially enjoyed flower gardening, painting, reading and sewing. She will be remembered by her family as a woman of strong character, and always having a friendly smile for everyone. She is preceded in death by her sisters, Wilma Jean March, Virginia Alford and Lillian Jones; brothers Douglas Graves, Richard Graves and Elmer Graves and an infant daughter. Left to cherish her are her sons, Michael A. Cook of Lafayette, GA and Paul (Janie) Blaylock of Clarksville, TN.; sister Deborah (Everett) Kerley of Rossville, GA; grandchildren Robin Cook, Michael Johnston, Christine Blaylock and Briana Blaylock; numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted from the chapel of Watson-North Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Friday July 20, 2012 with Mickey Henley officiating. Interment will follow at Eastern Star Cemetery in Sewanee with friends and family serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be Thursday July 19, 2012 from 5-8 p.m. at Watson-North Funeral Home.
