Laura "Dear" Brown entered into eternal rest at The Carpenter House on Monday, March 24, 2014 at 12:02 am. She was a 77 year old native of Weyanoke, LA and a resident of St. Francisville, LA.

She was a retired nurse at Louisiana State Penitentiary and a former 20 year employee at East Louisiana State Hospital.

Miller & Daughter Mortuary, in charge of arrangements.

Visitation at Union Bethel Family B.C., Pastor Ron Johnson, religious service, conducted by Pastor Larry Andrews, interment, Rosemond B.C.Cemetery.

Survivors include her devoted husband, William Brown; six children, Donna Cobb Johnson (John), Fayetteville, N.C., Mary Cobb Barnes (Lawrence) and John Cobb (Carol) of St. Francisville, Carolyn Cobb Scott (Calvin) and Tracy Cobb McKneely all of Zachary, LA and Frederick Cobb (Angela), Baton Rouge; stepson, William Brown, Jr., Baton Rouge;

four sisters, Nettie Davis and Doretha Smothers, Weyanoke, Esther Scott, Chicago, IL, and Letha Graham (James), St. Francisville; two brothers, Feltus and Ledell Gray, Baton Rouge; uncle, Alex Gray, Baton Rouge;

ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; three God children;

preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Jr. and Charity Gray and sister, Louise Williams.

She was a member of Rosemond B.C., Laurel Hill, LA.
