Mrs. Alice Gray Black, 75, of Sturgis, MS; passed away at her residence on Monday, June 10, 2013 surrounded by her family.
Alice was member of Morgan chapel Baptist church, a homemaker and retired with Hershede Hall Clock Company and Starkville Manor, where she had worked for 11 years. She loved children.
Mrs. Black is survived by her daughter, Mildred Abbott (Robert) of Sturgis, MS; son, William Lynn Black (Connie) Sturgis, MS; 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Wayne Black; parents, James Gray and Mildred Gilbert Gray; son, James Black; daughter, Millie Ann Black; and grandson, James Dusty Meyers.
Visitation for Mrs. Black is scheduled for Tuesday, June 11, 2013 from 5-7 p.m. at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville. A funeral service is scheduled for Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the Welch Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Jeff Morgan and Rev. Kevin Black. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery in Sturgis.
Pallbearers are Ronnie Rodgers, Kelly Quinn, Bud Gillis, Butch Nowacki, Tommie Abbott, and Grover Abbott and honorary pallbearer Wes Billiot.
