IUKA - Oma Launa Gray Adams, 86, died Saturday, June 21, 2003, at her home in Chickasaw, Ala. She was born July 5, 1916, in Tishomingo County to the late Jessie and Myrtle Gray. She was a member of Chickasaw First Baptist Church, which she considered a great source of spiritual guidance and support during her 21 years as a widow.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka with Bro. Edward Strickland officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Survivors include two sons, Ernest D. Adams Jr. and wife, Sharon, of San Antonio, Texas, and Tommy Adams and wife, Sherry, of Mobile, Ala.; a daughter, Oma Jean Adams and husband, James M. Fowler, of Houston, Texas; three grandchildren, Donald Zachary Easley and wife, Christine, of Baytown, Texas, Mariah Anne Adams of San Antonio, Texas, and Ernest Dean Adams III and his fiancee, Evette Alvarado, of Austin, Texas; two great-grandchildren, Robert Zackary Easley and Scarlett Lakota Easley, both of Baytown, Texas; a special family member, Linda Underwood; special friends, Lucille Thames and Marge Conner of Chickasaw, Ala.; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest D. Adams Sr.; her parents; a brother, Burton Gray; and three sisters, Ilene Strickland, Mattie Hurley and Phebe Holloway.
Visitation will continue from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
