CHERRY CREEK – Joyce Augusta Gray Baker, 78, died Friday, Sept. 7, 2012, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She was a member of Cherry Creek Baptist Church and Campers on Mission. She was retired from the U.S. government where she had worked for 31 years.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Cherry Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. James Lewis, the Rev. Andy Baker and the Rev. Roger Reeder officiating. Burial will follow in the Cherry Creek Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, Edwin Baker of Cherry Creek; three sons, Eddie Baker (Carol) of Hattiesburg, Terry Baker (Jennifer) of Tupelo and Larry Baker (Leslie) of Brookhaven; one sister, Wilma Hooker of West Point; six grandchildren, Austin Baker (Christine), Andy Baker (Elizabeth), Ben Baker (Mary Catherine Evans), Wilson Baker, Livi Baker and Lilliana Baker; and one great-granddaughter, Ava Makenzie Baker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gus Whitlow Gray and Nancy Keron McCarver Gray; two brothers, Harvey Gray and William "Bubba" Gray; and three sisters, Hilda Tedford, Betty Jean Gray and Keron Gray.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Gray, Mickey Baker, Gene Baker, Phil Hooker, Kevin Crawford and Robin Crawford.
Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. today at Browning Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Cherry Creek Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 603, Ecru, MS 38841.
