Bobby L. Greene

Shreveport, LA- Bobby L. Greene, 88, went to be with the Lord on September 3, 2015. Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at Broadmoor United Methodist Church, 3715 Youree Dr. Shreveport, LA 71105. Officiating will be Rev. Conrad Edwards, Rev. Peter Gaughan, and Rev. Ron Easterling. Interment will follow at Forest Park Cemetery, 3700 St. Vincent Ave., Shreveport, LA. Visitation with the family will be held at 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church.

Bobby was born on August 6, 1927 in Shreveport, LA. He worked for his dad growing up as a plumber. After high school, he played semi-pro baseball for the Alexandria Aces, Shreveport Sports, and Monroe Sports. He was an avid golfer all of his adult life. After retiring from baseball he began his plumbing career full-time, and became a Master Plumber. In 1959, he and his wife Doris, founded Bobby L. Greene Plumbing and Heating Company, Inc.

He was a member of Broadmoor United Methodist Church, Elks Lodge, El Karubah (Shriners), York Rite Bodies, Master Mason at WHB Booth Lodge #380, Fair Park Alumni Association, Knights Templar, Grand Lodge of Louisiana, Lions Club, and past president of the NWLA PHCC. On December 15, 2007 the Mayor declared it to be Bobby L. Greene Day.

Bobby was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to many. He was loved by his family and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Bobby is preceded in death by his parents, Eunice Lester and Dallas Wharton Greene, Sr.; and brother, William E. Greene, Sr.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 64 years, Doris Beasley Greene; son, Richard Lester Greene and wife, Cindy; daughters, Renee’ Greene Broadway, and Suzy Greene Nance; grandchildren, Justin Greene and wife Karla, Michael Greene and wife Donna, Kasey Broadway Brown and husband Byron, Dawson Broadway, Dillon Broadway, Duane Broadway, Hannah Burroughs, Kayli Burroughs, and Fisher Nance; step-grandchildren, Cara Teague, Justin Vucinovich, Chad Vucinovich, Jeremy Franklin, Leah Broadway, Lindsey Gilreath, and Ivan Broadway, Jr.; siblings, Dallas Wharton Greene, Jr. and wife Alice, Delores Evans and husband Roy Dale; great-grandchildren, Hudson Greene, McKinley Miers, Hunter Kendrick, Tori Gilreath, Evan and Ivey Broadway, and Elliott Vucinovich.

Honoring Bobby as pallbearers will be Dillon Broadway, Dawson Broadway, Duane Broadway, Fisher Nance, Byron Brown, and Jeremy Franklin.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Bob Abney, Tommy Mosley, Marshall Hebert, Bill Robertson, Jim Payne, Al LeGrand, David Blakey, and the Employees of Bobby L. Greene Plumbing and Heating Company, Inc.

The family wishes to thank Preferred Care at Home of Northwest Louisiana, Synergy Home Care, Regional Hospice, and the Doctors and Staff at Willis-Knighton North.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital, Broadmoor United Methodist Church or to the charity of your choice.
