US Congressman. He was an associate editor of the Greensburg Evening Press, (1883-87), studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1888 and commenced to practice law in Greensburg, Pennsylvania. He was district attorney of Westmoreland County in 1891, a member of the school board of Greensburg, (1892-96) and served as chairman of the Democratic county committee, (1896-1911). In 1911, he was elected as a Democrat to the Sixty-second Congress, serving until 1913. An unsuccessful candidate for re-nomination, he resumed the practice of law until his death at age 67.
