Suggested edit: Died in Youngsville, Pa., August 28. 1898. Mrs. Elizabeth August aged 86 years and 29 days. The deceased was one of the oldest residents of Youngsville and was the daughter of Rev. John Gregg, one of the earliest settlers of the Brokenstraw. She was married to W. H. August in 1834. His death occurred May 9, 1875. and the remainder of her life was spent in her own home, where she was tenderly cared for by her daughter, Mrs. Mary P. York. She had been in feeble health for some time, but at the last there was no particular disease, only a giving out of the body consequent of old age. She passed away calmly, seemingly into an unbroken sleep, but it was the sleep that knows no waking. She was had been a consistent member of the M. E. Church for 71 years. Her funeral sermon weas preached by her pastor, Rev. Mr. Hamilton, from the words "Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord."
The pall-bearers were old friends, as follows: Hon. W. H. Shortt, Geo. W. Brown, George Weaver, W. J. Davis 1st.Josiah Dupree, Arthur McKinney.
Three children are left to mourn their loss, John M. August of Erie, Mrs. Mary P. York, Youngsville, Mrs. Martha E. Houser, Tidioute, and one brother and sister. Rev. John Gregg, of Manhattan, Kan., and Mrs. Sarah August of Rew, Pa.; also, a large circle of relatives and friends. (Warren Mail, Sep 15, 1898)
