Obituary Xenia Daily Gazette July 10 & 11, 1903:
Mrs. Justina Gretsinger died at 11:30 this morning at her home on Dayton Hill, at the advanced age of 89 years. She had been ill for some time and for several days had been in a critical condition from heart trouble and the weakness of old age and her death was not unexpected. She had been a widow a number of years and made her home with a daughter. She is the mother of several children, among, the number being Mr. Chris Gretsinger, one of the well known citizens of this city and Mrs. George Engle.
......Justina Gretsinger was born at Wittenberg, Germany in 1813, and came to America in 1857, and settled at Mt. Holly, Warren county, O. Seven years ago she came to Xenia. She had seven children, three having died and four remaining to-mourn their loss. All the children live in Xenia. The funeral will take place Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the home of Miss Sarah Gretsinger. Rev. Arthur E. Gringel, pastor of Lutheran church, of which Mrs. Gretsinger was a devoted member, will conduct the services. Interment at Woodland.
