Virginia Marilee Boyer Feb. 24, 1936 ~ Aug. 9, 2013 Resident of Crockett Virginia (Mary) Boyer died peacefully at home after a 5 month bout with cancer. She was born in Stratford, OK. to Jesse and Bertie Griffin. She was the eldest of 3 children. She migrated to California (Crockett to be exact) in the 1960's. She worked her way through beauty school and became a hairdresser. She worked as a hairdresser for awhile and then bought the shop from the existing owner. She married Richard Boyer on May 20, 1972. Mary liked being a homemaker and relished the occasional painting and decorating that come with home ownership. She loved her gardens, both inside the home and outdoors. She loved house plants, Begonias, Orchids, African Violets and Cactus. She enjoyed quilting and crafting but most of all she loved her dogs. She belonged to a Cocker Spaniel support group that covers the entire United States. She was preceded in death by her parents an sister, Joy Ann. She is survived by her husband, Dick Boyer, a sister, Betty Chesser of Vallejo, a brother, Jim (Julianna) Griffin of Benicia, and numerous nephews and nieces. No services will be held. Final burial will be at Memory Gardens in Concord, CA at a later date. Family welcomes any donations to Quilters of Crockett, 330 Duperu Dr., Crockett, CA 94525 or your choice of Cancer Societies.
