LOCAL ITEMS FROM ALTURAS
Mrs. Lelah Boyd returned Monday from Grants Pass, Oregon, where she was called to the bedside of her sister, who is seriously ill. (Sister must have been Sallie Griffin Grove, who died in Grants Pass Oct 5, 1935)

Notes from nephew Merle Griffin: "Lelah was widowed July 12, 1931 when Arthur Boyd was accidentally drowned. She continued in the family home in Alturas where her family grew up. She was active in areas where she was needed and a tower of strength to those who needed her help in sickness or affliction. She died in a Klamath Falls hospital on August 11, 1949. She is buried beside her husband in the Alturas cemetery."
