WOODBRIDGE — The funeral of Mrs. Maria (Grimaldi) Giacalone, 79, of 174 Bunns Lane, who died December 27 at Roosevelt Hospital, was held Saturday morning at the Leon J. Gerity Funeral Home, 411 Amboy Avenue, with a high Mass of requiem at St. James Church. Burial was in St. James Cemetery.
Widow of Paolo Giacalone, the deceased was born in Italy and resided in Woodbridge 56 years. She was a parishioner of St. James Church, member of Woodbddge VFW Post 4410 Auxiliary, and a Gold Star Mother.
Her son, Bartholomew, was killed while fighting in the Pacific theatre during World War II.
Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Margaret Macciaro, Staten Island; Mrs. Angeline Brigiani, Jamesburg; Miss Esther Giacalone, Freehold; Mrs. Jean Schmidt, Metuchen; Mrs. Gertrud Costello, Woodbridge; nine grand children; nine great grandchildren; a brother Joseph, Woodbridge; two brothers and two sisters, Italy.
