Marian Auniette Grimsley "Granny" Brown, of Hanahan, died April 26, 2009.

She was a daughter of the late Mr. John William and Mrs. Leila David Grimsley.

Mrs. Brown, a former medical secretary and real estate agent, was a registered Medical Assistant, a certified Phlebotomist, a lifetime Notary, a member of the Azalea Chapter 192, and Order of the Eastern Star and she was nominated in 2004 as an Ageless Hero by our Congressman, Henry Brown. She completed her GED from Trident Technical College at age 63 and took an online Medical Billing course in 2008; but was unable to finish it due to illness.

She was a member of Cooper River Baptist Church. She loved people as well as her family. Marian never met a stranger and she touched many, many lives.

Marian worked in the medical field for Dr. Guy F. Taylor for 27 years and she was an Independent Licensed Realtor. She worked as a camp counselor with children at Park Circle in North Charleston and with the Hanahan Recreation Department and also worked hard in the Republican Party and was a Life Member of the Republican Task Force since 1984.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robbie James Brown and survivors include one sister, Leila Jean Grimsley Smith; two daughters, Gwen B. Etheridge and husband Tommy of Hanahan and Linda A. Brown of Hanahan; four grandchildren, Cheri Hines and husband Bunky of Hanahan, Karen Oglesby and husband Roy of Hanahan, Thom Etheridge of Hanahan and John Etheridge and wife Valerie of Charleston; six great-grandchildren, Ryan Hines, Bryce Hines, Bret Hines, Brittany Hines, Ashley Oglesby and Austin Oglesby. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, cousins and one sister-in-law, JoAnn Grimsley.
