Jurgen Grubert, 72, of Norris City, passed away Thursday, June 16, 2011 at 8:27 a.m. at his residence in McLeansboro. He had been a resident of Wabash Christian Retirement Center in Carmi.

He was born January 12, 1939 in Bremerhaven, Germany, the son of Walter and Ilse G. (Wilhelm) Grubert. He was raised by his step-father, Adolf Albers. Jurgen was a U.S. Air Force veteran of Desert Storm and served in the Air National Guard. He had worked as a dental lab technician with the V.A. Hospital in Phoenix, AZ and retired from the V.A. in White City, OR. Jurgen was a member of Christ The King Orthodox Church in Omaha.

He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Christa and Jeremy Conrad of McLeansboro; a son and daughter-in-law, Carmeron and Linda Grubert of Greenville, TX; a brother, Gerry Grubert of Park Ridge, IL; and five grandchildren. Joshua Mahan, Jamie Grubert, Ashley Grubert, Trey Grubert, and Landon Conrad.

Funeral services for Jurgen Grubert, 72, of Norris City, will be Monday, June 20, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Christ The King Orthodox Church in Omaha with Father Michael Keiser officiating. Burial will be in Palestine #2 Cemetery in Omaha. Friends may call on Sunday from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi who is in charge of arrangements.
