"Granny" passed away peacefully at the age of 99. She was the eldest daughter of Frederick John and Vera Lavern Campbell Grundman. She married Major Jay Bortle, Jr. on June 12, 1926. Mother of Freda Anne, James Jay, and Sandra Noreen. She left behind 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 25 great-great-grandchildren. She was very active up until her last few years, and worked almost every day at Schlenker's Farm Market, which was owned and operated by her daughter Sandy. Granny will be greatly missed by her family and the community.
