Helen G. Bacon, 84, Topeka, died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2007 at her home.

She was born July 26, 1922 in Jonesborough, Tennessee, the daughter of Walter and Cindy Presnell Guinn. She was raised in Jonesborough, and had lived in Topeka since March, 1985.

She married Norman V. Bacon on March 16, 1943 in Jonesborough. He died Sept. 13, 2003.

Survivors include a son, Norman B. Bacon and his wife, Kathleen, Topeka; four grandchildren, Rachel Slusser and husband, Jordan, Lawrence, Michael Bacon, Karen Bacon, Christine Schiefereck and husband, Tim, all of Topeka; four great-grandchildren, Adam Schiefereck, Mark Kern, Austin Kern, and Onan Bacon.

Mrs. Bacon will lie in state after 1:00 pm, today at the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 6 at Grace Community Church.

Entombment will follow in the Resurrection Mausoleum at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery.
