A former Chatham resident, she was the wife of jazz cornetist Bobby Hackett, who died in 1976.

She was born and raised in Providence, R.I. She met her husband when she was 12, and they were later married on Nantucket in the late 1930s.

She was a homemaker and traveled extensively with her internationally-known husband. They lived in Los Angeles and in the Greenwich Village section of New York City. The couple moved to Chatham, where they had summered for many years, in the early 1970s when Mr. Hackett semi-retired. Shortly after his death, Mrs. Hackett moved back to New York City.

She enjoyed needlepoint and was an active bridge player for many years. She was also a good cook and often made multicourse meals for her husband and his musician friends at 2 a.m. after they had finished working for the night.

Mrs. Hackett is survived by a daughter, a son, two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
