ROCKLAND – Jean H. Boynton, 60, died Thursday, August 26th, while on an Alaskan cruise aboard the MV Amsterdam. Having battled cancer since December of 2003, she had been looking forward this cruise. After moving to Rockland at an early age, she was educated in local schools and was a 1961 graduate of Rockland High School.
That fall she began studies at Nason College in Springvale. After moving to New Jersey and while raising her daughter, transferred studies to William Patterson State College in Patterson.
After graduating from that college, she first taught at Morris-Knowles High School in Denville, New Jersey for 6 years. In 1987 she moved to Gray, where for 13 years she taught math at Gray-New Gloucester High School for 13 years. Since returning to Rockland in 2000, Mrs. Boynton taught math at Rockland District High School.
