82-Year-Old Town of Brussels Resident Dies on Sunday; Rites at Kolberg
KOLBERG—Mrs. August Hafeman, 82, died at the home of her son, Louis, in the Town of Brussels Sunday morning at 12:40. Her death was caused by old age infirmities. She had been seriously ill the past three weeks.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the Haueke Funeral Home in Algoma and 2 o clock at the Immanuel Lutheran church. The Rev. E. C. Hinnenthal officiated at the last rites and burial was in the Kolberg cemetery. Pallbearers were Richard Hafeman, Victor Harmann. Earl Wiese, Lloyd Cochenet, Joseph Stangel and Clarence Delwiche.
Mrs. Hafeman, the former Caroline Dahlke, was born in Pommern, Germany, Nov. 18, 1861, and came to America with her parents as a young woman of 18 years. The family came immediately to the Town of Brussels and that township continued to be the residence of -Mrs. Hafeman to the time of her passing. She married Hafeman December 15, 1882. At Forestville. He died in 1925.
Ten children survived. They are Julius, Algoma; Emil, Forestville; John Milwaukee; Frank, Brussels; Hugo, Ahnapee; Louis, Brussels; Otto, Algoma; Lorenz, Brussels; Mrs. Ernest (Louisa) Kroening, Ahnapee, and Mrs. Gust (Esther) Schiesser), Ahnapee. Two daughters, Emma and Mary, died in infancy. Other survivors include 24 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one stepbrother, Albert Zahn of Baileys Harbor.
