Son of Armistead and Nancy (nee White) Barksdale.
He entered the Confederacy in 1861 from Carroll County, TN.,and served through-out the War. In 1869, he removed to Obion County, TN., where he is buried.

1st Wife: Lou D. McCord m. 1865 (two children)
2nd wife: Dicie Jane Whipple m. 1872 (five children)

His wife, Dicie J. Barksdale, filed for a Confederate Widows Pension in Obion County, TN. . # W3346

In the 1880 Census, they are shown living in Hickman, Fulton, KY
