"Mrs. Rachel Bishop, widow of the late Isaac Bishop and daughter of Jacob Hagerman, died at Seneca Falls Monday night being nearly 87 years of age. She has spent most of her life in this town but for about nine months has lived in Seneca Falls with her daughter, Mrs. Patrick McNany. She leaves five sons, John, Warren, Charles, Andrew, and Jacob Bishop, and three daughters. She was a worthy woman, a member of the Baptist church. She has suffered for some time with general debility but was conscious and the funeral services were in accordance with her request, the service to be held in the Presbyterian church of this place and Rev. Mr. Jacks to officiate." (Seneca Farmer Review, Saturday, 13 March 1897)
