OBITUARY:
SHELBYVILLE - Mrs. Mary Frances Browning, 89, died at 6 o'clock this morning at the home of a son, Roy Browning, 643 Doran Ave., after suffering a cerebral hemorrhage a week ago. Mrs. Browning was a native of Spencer County, KY, but had spent most of her life in Johnson County before moving to her son's home 36 years ago. She was born August 26, 1871, the daughter of Gilbert and Mary Elizabeth Hagerman. She was married July 8, 1888, to Jesse M. Browning who preceded her in death April 16, 1946. Surviving with the son at whose home she died, is another son, Ray Browning of Franklin. One son, Ralph, preceded her in death. Also surviving are two brothers and three sisters, John Hagerman of Terre Haute; and Fred Hagerman, Spencer; Mrs. Ida Hutchison, Carlisle; Mrs. Nettie Mollet, of Georgetown, Ill.; and Mrs. Jessie Mollet of Morton Grove, Ill. There are 24 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Browning was a member to the Smith Valley United Brethren Church in Johnson County. Her funeral will be held at the Ewing Mortuary, Monday at 1:00 p.m., with Rev. B. J. Renner officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery near Greenwood. Friends may call at the mortuary after 3:00 p.m. Sunday.
