Clifton Earl Hall 1932 - 2012 SUNDERLAND, VT Clifton Earl Hall, 79, a lifelong resident of Sunderland Hill Road, passed away Monday May 21, 2012, at his home, following a long illness. Clifton was born in Sunderland, on July 24, 1932, son of Winfield and Mary (McCurdy) Hall and attended the Sunderland one-room school houses. Clifton worked as a furniture refinisher all his life, first for Shea's furniture in Readsboro and North Bennington, Hawley Furniture Company in East Arlington and then retiring from Hale Company in 1992. Clifton was a member of the Army, serving his country during the Korean Conflict. He has been a lifetime member of Harned-Fowler VFW Post 1332 in Manchester since 1977 and Past Commander and member of The American Legion Post 69 in Arlington. Clifton enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening in the summer and growing indoor violets to give to family and friends. In his Little Red Shop he repaired and refinished antique furniture, and in earlier years made knick-knacks with his brother Kermit. He also loved to fish the Battenkill and Roaring Branch. Clifton was extremely popular with local fishermen because of his Worm Farm; fishermen would stop by to purchase his prized worms for fishing. He also enjoyed hunting rabbits, partridges and deer behind his home. Clifton is survived by his daughters, Susie Walsh and her husband Kevin of Arlington and Marion Hall of Bennington; his grandchildren, Kerry, Errin, Kelli, Anthony, Matthew, Tia, Nicole, Suzann, Margaret and Mark and 21 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Clara Jennings, whom he married Jan. 29, 1955. Mrs. Hall passed away May 20, 1985. He was also predeceased by his son, Mark Hall, who died July 3, 1997; his brothers, Joseph, Daniel, Texas, Winfield and Kermit; his sisters, Katherine Martin, Anna Avery and two stepsisters.
