Eleanora "Nora" Halme Glenn, left this world in the grace of God on Thursday, April 10, 2014, after an extended illness.

She was born December 3, 1942, in Washington, DC, daughter of the late Oscar R. and Eleanora Elizabeth Halme.

She grew up in Norfolk, Virginia, graduating from Norfolk Catholic High School in 1961.

She moved to Washington, DC and joined the FBI in 1962.

After 36 years, she retired as a Paralegal Specialist. She and John Glenn met in 1970. They were married in 1971 and shared 36 years together. After their retirement, they returned to her childhood home in Norfolk, where they welcomed and enjoyed the company of family and many friends, old and new.

Nora got very involved in the community, volunteering with meals on wheels, Holy Trinity Food Pantry and always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need.

She loved to travel and did so – taking anyone who would go with her. She enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews, and then grandnieces and grandnephews.

She is survived by her three sisters, Maggie Halme of Dracut, MA, Virginia Shaw and her husband Ray, of Norfolk, VA, and Teresa Moore and her husband Larry, of Lake Milton, OH. She also leaves behind 8 nieces and nephews she adored and loved as her own, plus 14 great nieces and nephews.

She will be loved and sadly missed by her family and many treasured friends.

The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel on Tuesday, April 15, 2014, from 6 to 8 p.m.

The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church by Rev. Fr. Daniel Beeman.

Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to Mobile Meals of Norfolk, 251 S. Newtown Road, Norfolk, VA 23502.
