Ruth Hamblin Austin, 85, passed away June 2, 2013 in Richmond, VA. She was born November 28, 1927, to Charles A. Hamblin and Juventa Montgomery Hamblin. She was the youngest of five.

Ruth was raised in Heber City, UT and after High School, attended The University of Utah School of Nursing, where she received her RN. After graduation she moved to Cleveland, Ohio to work in a hospital that specialized in babies and children.

There she met and married Clyde H. Austin, Jr. in March of 1950. They then moved to Chardon, Ohio, where they raised three girls. After 30 years of living and working in Chardon, Ruth and Clyde moved to St. George, UT where they enjoyed the desert life together until his death in 1997. Ruth continued to live in St. George until March of 2010, when Glaucoma caused her to go blind. She then moved to Richmond, VA with her oldest daughter, Ivy Dale Austin.

She is survived by her three daughters, Ivy Dale Austin, Edythe Lynn Caltrider (Kim) and Janice Ann Thomas (Irvin); five grandchildren, Rebecca Duggan (Tom), Ivy Lynn Dorsey (John), and Zachery Thomas (Tracy), Sandra Ragains (Brandon) and Austin Maly; two great-grandchildren, Ashleigh Duggan and Alexandra Thomas.

As well as her husband, she was also preceded in death by both parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at 1:00 p.m., a viewing to be held before the service from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 S. Bluff St., St. George, UT. Interment will be in the St. George City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the LDS Church General Missionary Fund.
